Cooperation in projects with the environment (ŠI:UM, ŠI:UM NOO, IŠRI:UM)

In these types of projects, students work with a pedagogical mentor and a mentor from an organization to solve practical problems, both economic and non-economic. The university and faculty announce available positions for students through a call for applications.

  • Student challenges (By using an innovative, problem-based, and group approach to solve local student challenges, students can develop competencies and gain practical knowledge and experience. Working in interdisciplinary groups and guided by a mentor, students tackle challenges faced by firms and organizations. This approach brings benefits to all parties involved, including the possibility of long-term cooperation. During the application process, students can express their interest in seeking new knowledge and be involved in the implementation of project proposals.)
  • Student challenges of the NOO (As part of the NOO's activities on: "Higher education reform for a green and resilient transition to Society 5.0" and within the framework of the pilot project "Single entry point for employers and innovative forms of cooperation with students", the Student Challenges of the University of Maribor (NOO) (ŠI: UM (NOO)) were implemented. These activities aim to promote cooperation and bridge the gap between higher education and the environment, with a focus on integrating and addressing the contents of the digital and green transition.)
  • Project work for the acquisition of practical experience and knowledge of students in the working environment (The University of Maribor has completed activities for 39 projects that were submitted under the public call "Project Work for the Acquisition of Practical Experience and Knowledge of Students in the Work Environment 2022/2023" (PDŠ UM 2022/2023). The aim of this call for proposals was to promote cooperation and integration between the higher education system and the environment such as economy, non-economy, and non-profit sectors in the local and regional areas. The main objective was to implement flexible forms of learning.)
  • DEMOLA (DEMOLA Network promotes collaboration between students, businesses, and higher education institutions. Companies affiliated with Demola present project tasks that are tackled by student groups with the guidance of companies and researchers from the University of Maribor. These project tasks are designed to be solved by teams of students with diverse backgrounds and skillsets. The aim of the project is to transform the problem and idea outlined on paper into a working prototype. Student teams are provided with a shared space where they can exchange creative ideas with representatives of firms and the University of Maribor.).

We inform you about the possibility of joining projects in real-time via the website and social networks when the calls are opened.

Independent student projects (at the proposal and carried out by the students without a call)

EPF Student Council projects

These projects aim to promote help, cooperation, networking, a healthy lifestyle, and develop skills in collaboration, teamwork, intercultural understanding, and project work under the motto "Students for students!"

  1. Tutoring - The faculty has had tutors working for many years, and the tutoring system has become well-established. Each year, the tutors take responsibility for welcoming freshmen to the faculty and supporting them through their first year. Additionally, before exam periods, tutoring sessions are organized to prepare students for various subjects.
  2. Study Material Fair – The project aims to facilitate the sharing of materials among students.
  3. Post-exam party - The post-exam party has been held in Štuk for many years to give students a chance to relax and celebrate the end of exams while promoting interfaculty integration and cooperation.
  4. How to successfully graduate - We understand that preparing a diploma thesis can be a challenging task. Therefore, we have organized a workshop specifically for third-year students, graduates, and other students who are currently writing their thesis. During this workshop, we will present a detailed overview of the graduation process, including the necessary documentation required to complete the process successfully.
  5. Charity of the EPF Student Council - Every year we aim to be charitable and aid those in need by partnering with one or more charitable organizations to create a campaign through social media and in person. EPF Health Day - In April, we organize the health Day on FEB. On the day of the event, the fruit of local producers is available to students in the lobby of the faculty.
  6. Come, look, and choose - Once a year, at the start of June, the Faculty of Economics and Business holds an open day for first-year students. This day is essentially an "internal information day." During the event, all the different study orientations that first-year students can choose from when enrolling in Year 2 are presented. The Student Council and tutors will be available to answer any questions that students may have regarding their study orientation.
  7. Razlagova Razlaga - Our brochure Razlagova Razlaga aims to provide freshmen with valuable information to guide them through their academic experience at the faculty. It covers all activities that UM students can participate in throughout the academic year.
  8. We don't bite, so just ask us - During the first week of the academic year, we welcome freshmen students, guide them through the faculty, and answer any questions they may have.
  9. Business Evening with Erasmus Students - The aim of the project is to create a closer connection between students who are on an Erasmus exchange at our faculty and our local students. Every year, we organize a lecture by experts in English. After the event, there is an informal gathering where Slovenian and foreign students can mingle and get to know each other.
  10. Brucovanje - At the Brucovanje event, we welcome all new freshmen. This party is specifically organized to provide a fun and relaxing environment for both freshmen and other students at the start of the semester. Such events are important as they help students to build connections with their new colleagues.
  11. With knowledge to new career Every year we hold workshops on important topics such as job interviews and CV writing to help students gain additional skills that are crucial for their career development.
  12. Marketing traffic light - The Marketing Traffic Light is an annual conference organized by students of our faculty, focused on marketing and with a different theme each year. The Marketing Club invites interesting speakers from the industry to join the event, and several activities take place in the lobby as well.
  13. Great advice from great masters - Students are always interested in listening to the stories of successful people who share their methods, knowledge and experiences that led to their success. Therefore, every year we invite experts from renowned companies to share their work experience, knowledge, introduce students to the company, and present them with the employment opportunities available.
  14. FEB Pre-Christmas Gathering – Every year before Christmas, we organize various activities to provide students with opportunities to connect and socialize.

We keep you informed about the possibility of joining projects via the website and social networks.
