The Centre for Library and Information Services at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) supports full-time and part-time undergraduate studies, postgraduate studies, and scientific research through various services. Our users include students at all levels of study, university lecturers, researchers, institutional members (organizations and companies), and the broader professional public.
The Centre is integrated into the University of Maribor Library Information System (KISUM), which operates with a unified library card and harmonized service rules. Through the COBISS system, users can access collections from most Slovenian libraries, reserve materials, extend loan periods, and receive online guidance and support.
Library materials are freely accessible and primarily cover the fields of economics and business sciences. The reading room on the first floor includes the reference collection, textbooks, and final theses (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral) while also providing a pleasant and stimulating study environment.
The library's core mission is to offer comprehensive support for study and research by providing high-quality library services and access to relevant information resources. One of the key responsibilities of the Centre for Library and Information Services is to ensure access to sufficient required study and other academic literature while providing comprehensive coverage of all scientific disciplines represented at the Faculty of Economics and Business. In recent years, special attention has been devoted to expanding access to electronic information resources, as an increasing amount of content is available exclusively in digital format. The acquisition of these resources for the entire University of Maribor is carried out by the University of Maribor Library (UKM), which is responsible for the selection and procurement of international scientific literature and databases. This is implemented through a joint application to the call for proposals by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), with funding provided by pooling the resources of the University of Maribor’s members and UKM.
In 2024, 52 databases, 44,547 electronic serial titles, and 4,236,263 electronic books were available. Students with valid status and staff had access to 14,779,492 different electronic resources.
Together with other members of the University of Maribor, FEB also contributes to the development of the Digital Library of University of Maribor (DLUM), which, in addition to students’ final theses, enables the submission of scientific articles and research data. DLUM thus serves as the central repository for collecting and preserving the university’s scientific heritage in digital form and plays an essential role in promoting open access to scientific information.
