8. International Scientific Conference 2024

The 8th International Scientific Conference on "Challenges in the turbulent economic environment and organisations' sustainable development" took place on 21 May as part of International Week. After the opening address by the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Jernej Belak, and the welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Zlatko Nedelko, Chairman of the Programme Committee, the conference participants had the opportunity to listen to two invited plenary lectures.

The first plenary lecture was given by Professor Dr Franceso Caputto from the University of Naples Federico II in Italy, on "THE ROLE OF HUMAN-MACHINE DICHOTOMY IN DEPICTING NEXT BALANCES IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT". His lecture highlighted the importance and potential of human-machine interaction for achieving sustainable development in a digital society.

The second plenary lecture was given by Professor Dr Matthias Fink from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. "RESPONSIBLE VENTURING: HOW TO CREATE DESIRABLE FUTURES THROUGH SUPEREROGATORY MANAGEMENT". The lecture highlighted the importance of "supererogatory management" for developing the necessary characteristics for responsible venture investing, in the context of socially responsible action.  

The opening session was followed by the presentation of papers in six morning parallel sessions and six afternoon parallel sessions, which included presentations by national and international professors from Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine. The speakers presented their own experiences and examples of good practice from different business areas and other research in the scope of their 68 article contributions.

The conference also included contributions by professors, assistant professors and other collaborators from the Faculty of Economics and Busines such as Prof. Dr. Jernej Belak, Prof. Dr. Zlatko Nedelko, Prof. Dr. Borut Milfelner, Prof. Dr. Simona Šarotar Žižek, Prof. Dr. Tjaša Štrukelj, Prof. Dr. Andreja Primec, Prof. Dr. Nataša Gajšt, Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Pisnik, Nejc Fir MSc, Nika Rakuša MSc, Prof. Dr. Domen Malc, and Aljaž Kocet MSc. Students from the Faculty of Economics and Business also shared their findings at the conference.
