Go Global Turkey
Merhaba sevgili öğrenciler,
With the help of International Relations Office FEB, the Go Global event took place, where students Furkan, Selin and Patrik presented Turkey.
First was an introductory presentation of Turkey, where the students presented some historical attractions, cultural features, possibilities for tourist excursions and culinary delicacies that Turkey offers and is known for, such as baklava, lahmacun, meze and börek, and of course Turkish tea and Turkish coffee. Then the foreign students, Furkan and Selin, introduced us to their Universities and the cities they come from.
Furkan is a student at Boğaziçi University, one of the most prestigious universities in all of Turkey. The University, which has existed since 1863, when it was known as Robert College, is located on the European side of the city of Istanbul, as the city is divided into European and Asian continents by the Bosphorus. The University comprises 6 different campuses, and most economics studies take place on the South Campus, which is completely closed to the general public and is a student's paradise, as it offers everything students need from lecture halls, cafes, canteens, basketball courts and many other things. Studies are conducted entirely in English, so the University also offers a wide range of courses for foreign students.
Selin is a student at Mersin University, which is located by the Mediterranean Sea in the southeastern part of the country. Mersin University is a relatively young university, as it has been an independent university only since 1992, but like Boğaziçi University, this university also has several different campuses. Also, the campuses are closed to the general public, but you can find everything from cafés, canteens, theaters, sports facilities and, of course, a lot of hidden corners. Also, the university has a very wide range of courses, where the courses are taught entirely in English every semester.
The presentation was continued by Patrik, who is a student at FEB and spent one academic year at Boğaziçi University. He presented the students with a comparison of life and studying in Turkey and Slovenia. He also pointed out that deciding on an Erasmus+ study exchange is extremely beneficial - something that almost every student should decide on, as it encourages you to get out of your comfort zone. At the same time, you still have the security that comes with the Erasmus+ financial scholarship and all the other support from both domestic and foreign institutions in arranging various documentation. After the presentation, the students had the opportunity to ask additional questions to all the presenters and, while having a pleasant time, taste the Turkish food prepared by the restaurant Mr. Falafel.
